Why Do I need RISE In My School or Community?

All Schools are affected by violence.  Approximately 50% of all students experience bullying, 75% of youth experience sexual harassment and 25-35% report experiencing dating violence.  RISE engages the entire school to address these issues and provides programming and support for even the most negative student leaders so they have a place other than sitting in the principal’s office.

RISE, unlike other bullying prevention programs, provides programming for both older and younger youth. This supports healthy transitioning for students moving from grade 8 to 9, identified as a time when incidents of bullying “spike” and youth are particularly vulnerable. This “family of schools” model also allows you the option of working with and sharing costs with neighboring schools.

RISE knows that school administrators and staff have very heavy workloads.  Once you allocate a staff person to the program, we will provide them with everything they need to facilitate the program and therefore will not draw significant time and energy from school or agency administrators or your staff team.

Having a RISE Program in your school will reduce the number of suspensions and reduce levels of violence and victimization.  It will make your school a safer place for all to work and learn.
